The Harry James Orchestra – Fri, Mar 7, 2008 – 8:00 PM

Click on this image to go to the official site of The Harry James Orchestra The Harry James Orchestra continues the tradition of mellow arrangements and fine rhythmic playing that first made it famous. Currently under the direction of James' lead trumpet virtuoso, Fred Radke, the orchestra continues to play worldwide in both major venues and special "invitation only" performances.

Fred Radke's style of playing is so similar to James' that listeners often cannot discern the difference. With countless credits including The Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Lennon Sisters, Connie Stevens, The Pied Pipers (and the list goes on and on), Radke is one of the few remaining original luminaries keeping the panache of that brilliant era alive.

These four daring cellists invite their audience on a stylistic "cross-country" adventure. Since 1997, they have been touring across the U.S. and Europe, weaving elements of classical, pop and folklore into a mesmerizing mixture of music. Their show is more than a collection of great songs; it's a complete performance concept.

The focus is sound, and it casts an almost hypnotic spell on the audience. And while there is never any doubt of these award-winning players' impressive abilities, it is the light, up-beat mood that leaves the strongest impression. This is music-making quite outside the conventions of classical concert-giving.
